The University of Sulaimani hosted the 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐖𝐏𝟒 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤: “𝑬𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝑬𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒔: 𝑪𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒍 𝑫𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚, 𝑴𝒊𝒏𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝑫𝑮𝒔” 🌍📚—bringing together nearly 35 academic staff and students from partner universities in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and Yemen, alongside European partners.
Across 4 intense days we connected the dots between:
🔹 cultural heritage (tangible intangible)
🔹 minority voices and inclusion
🔹 digital tools for heritage education
🔹 field learning with museums, archives, and local communities (including visits to downtown Sulaymaniyah, Hawar Village and Hawraman)
Participants came back home with this takeaway: universities can make heritage a driver for dialogue, social cohesion, and the SDGs.
